It seems that when most people ask the pros at their local transmission shops and then post about it online, they are advised not to do it because they will hate the hard shifts. With this mod, you are supposed to get quicker/firmer shifts and a transmission that will last longer, with no associated complications. I've done a lot a reading and come to the conclusion that there is a lot of hype around this mod and I can't distinguish what is real and what is not.

It sounds like the perfect way to upgrade my transmission and a mod that will work with the BB tune later. It's cost is between $20-$80 depending on which kit you choose, and is a simple upgrade that can be done in the driveway in about an hour. I originally thought that the way to firm up the transmission was through a custom tune, which will be in my truck's future, but then I stumbled on the Corvette Servo. They jar the whole truck, even when accelerating lightly. The transmission on my 95 Chevy was rebuilt before I bought it and the shifts are hard and quick. Is the Corvette Servo a gimmick bolt-on like the throttle body spacer and cold air intake, a legitimate performance mod like the Black Bear Performance tune, or an neutral item like a cat back exhaust system that sounds good and makes you feel better about your truck, but has negligible performance gains and no real negatives?
